Project notes / 11.05.2026

It’s been a fair while since I wrote a project update. Since I started posting new Splorers pages, I’ve just been trying to keep things going on the comic pages front and hit a bit of a slump. I’m not much of a traveller, I tend to go abroad once every few years but recently I’ve been to Turkey and Portugal, both within a couple of weeks of each other. As such, and despite my best intentions to work while there, momentum has slowed down rather a lot, to the point where that nice buffer of pages I had built up is gone and I’m back to working on pages as they’re due to come out. Well, almost.

Over the weekend, I finished the colours for the page which is due to drop this coming Friday and I randomly hit a stride with the following page while vegging out in front of Sunday morning TV yesterday. Aside from a few bits of final lettering I need to do, I should have the next two weeks worth of pages in the bag.

I’m trying to keep the momentum going and see if I can get that buffer built up again in the coming weeks, at least try to get the remaining seven pages complete for this section of Splorers.

In a past post, I talked about wanting to continue with Splorers until it reaches its conclusion, rather than taking a break like I did last year. I still want to keep it going but I’m also feeling the pull of other projects that keep surfacing in my brain so I need to change things up a bit to give me a bit more freedom to explore other ideas at the same time. My original plan of doing a page a week alongside other projects, on reflection, was a slightly lofty goal for me and I feel I need to revise that a bit.

The logical step is to extend the period between new Splorers pages. Perhaps a page a month, rather than a page a week which will afford me the room I need to juggle multiple projects at once.

I’ll see how I get on with the remaining seven pages and make a call some time in the next week on when I’ll actually push the button on this new schedule.

There’s a small core of dedicated readers out there who’ve been coming along each Friday for the last few weeks which I appreciate massively. I really hope you continue to follow along, even if it means waiting a bit longer between pages but I hope the idea of new, different comics makes up for it.

PS - I’ve been shit at keeping things updated recently, which I also hope will get sorted out by this adjustment in schedule.
